The otoplasty
The otoplasty is an intervention that consists in giving back a shape and a normal angle to the removed ears, too apparent in the front elevation.
Generally practiced in the childhood and adolescence, the correction of the removed ears is frequently asked by adults.
This intervention is achieved by a shredding of cartilage, in order to reconstitute the folds of the ear. Generally carried out under general anaesthesia, this intervention lasts about 1 hour, and the hospitalization takes 24 hours.
Once the patient leaves, a light bandage is maintained during about 1 week, and a headband is worn at night for 2 - 3 weeks.
The final result of an otoplasty is immediately visible and definitive. The scars are behind the ears, so that they are very discreet. This surgery is not harmful for the hearing.
