Laser Hair Removal

Indications through laser:

The guiding principle of laser peeling is the following: laser beams destroy in a selective fashion the hair bulb, without destroying other cells in the skin.

All areas of the body can be treated using laser beams peeling, with men as it is with women. The most frequent parts are the legs, swimsuit and the armpits. The best results are achieved with dark hair on light skin. However, areas that are more flat, like the external genital organs, can be treated by laser beams peeling without any problem.

The down end of the face, beside the upper lip, is not treated with laser peeling because there is a risk of simulation.

The description of a laser session:

The area to be treated must be shaved 24 to 48 hours before the treatment. You mustn’t under any circumstances peel using wax or clippers because the bulb will be removed with the hair and laser is therefore inefficient. All the area should be swept by a laser beam. The laser peeling treatment is not painful; at worst, you will feel a little tickling during the act and a very slight sensation of heat in the hour that follows.

After effects

It may happen that following a laser peeling treatment small papules will appear as the corresponding inflammatory reaction at the destruction of the bulb. They will be there for one to two hours then they will disappear. An erythematic (redness) will be ever so present following a laser peeling and may last up to 24 hours. At the end of each laser peeling session, a strong cream with a dehydrating effect will be applied over the skin. It may be necessary to continue hydrating your skin for a number of days.

Number of required sessions

The hair has a life cycle made up of three phases: an agene, cat agene, and telogene. We speak about the peeling cycle. The laser will be active on hair at the agene phase (growth phase). The bulb cells, very active after this phase, are charged with melanin, therefore more easily destroyed by laser. Because of this physiological peculiarity, many sessions are required: the number of sessions will be specified following your first consultation and according to the area to be peeled, your skin features and those of your hair. As a general rule, it is expected to be around 5 or 6 sessions so that long-lasting results may be attained.

The laser peeling protocol is as follows: The first three sessions will be spaced between 4 and 6 weeks. Then, the sessions will be scheduled every two months, then in proportion with residual hair growth.
