Frontal lift or Forehead lift

For whom?

The forehead lift is practiced when there is a slackening of the frontal muscle and the muscle that causes the horizontal wrinkles in between the eyelids (lion's wrinkles).

The forehead will be highly marked by these horizontal wrinkles and the eyelid sinking will have an impact on the upper eyebrows.

Aims

The purpose is to rejuvenate the upper part of the face that hasn't been improved by a simple facelift: it will re-stretch the forehead muscles, correct or extenuate the wrinkles, and probably correct the lowering of the eyelids.

Before the operation

Your medical examinations

Between one week and one month prior to your operation, you must make an appointment with a medical tests laboratory in order to undergo a full pre-surgical check-up.

The tests results must be sent to us (by fax, or by e-mail) so that they can be seen and read by our anesthetist doctor. Depending on the test results, other examinations may be required.

If you are unable to carry out your examinations before your departure to Tunisia, there is always a possibility to do that on the spot, the day before the operation. It must be known that if there is a contra-indication to your operation, the anesthetist doctor has the right to put off or cancel the operation. No medication containing aspirin should be taken at least 10 days before the operation.

You must mention any type of medication you may have taken. It is essential that you refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking for 8 hours before the operation.

Your luggage

With regard to your luggage, you must bring sunglasses, one or two scarves (to cover the bruises), a hat or cap, and full sun block cream.

Getting ready for the operation

You will be taken to your clinic the night of the operation, the time to get settled in your room, to take a shower if needed and to meet with the medical team: your surgeon, the anesthetist doctor, and all the health care staff. The operation takes place the following morning. Very often, the night before the operation, the nurses will give you a kind of pre-medication in the form of a light tranquilizer to make sure that slightly anxious patients to face the operation with more fortitude. You will be given a hair wash the night of the operation and a careful removal of make-up will be carried out the day of the operation.

Type of anesthesia

Frontal lift is undertaken under full anesthesia or deep partial anesthesia through the administration of tranquilizers by intravenous injection

Duration of hospitalization

3 nights

Total duration of your stay in Tunisia

8 nights/9 days

Operation

The surgeon cut through the hair or at its fringes according to the height of the forehead

He/she will weaken the frontal muscle and probably the muscles of the lion's wrinkle; he/she can also roll up the eyelids.

The skin is then re-draped upward and skin excess is removed.

Duration of the operation

The duration of a frontal lifting is 1 hour.

After the operation

It is not unusual that one feels traction slightly painful at the level of the forehead; a swelling of the upper eyebrows may lead to eye obstruction, at times associated to some ecchymosed signs. The eyebrow is an extremely sensitive tissue that is likely to invite edema very quickly. To reduce the impact, we recommend the use, in the first days, of ice compresses. These symptoms may be asymmetrical the same as the occurrence of per-orbital ecchymosed signs.

Surgical consequences

Part of the skin over the skull can remain for sometime under anesthesia. A slight temporary hair loss may be noticed in the area in front of the scar. The scars will be completely hidden under the hair; they can however cause a feeling of tearing off linked to the healing process. Hair may be hard to comb and arrange during the month following the operation; It is advisable to wait for a month before you have a haircut.

Sunbathing and UV sessions are to be avoided during 6 weeks. Such practices may cause chronic pigmentation where the bruises are.

Outcome

The result is achieved around the sixth week after the operation; it is final at the end of the fourth or fifth month. Just like the others, frontal lifting does not put an end to the aging process. Not all wrinkles will be removed, in particular wrinkles of expression. The collapse of the forehead disappears for a long time; the eyelids are re-lifted and the horizontal wrinkles are somewhat extenuated.

Complications

Any surgical operation has some risks and the likelihood of bleeding, infection and poor healing of bruises is to be taken into consideration.

Work interruption

There is no need for interrupting the work: the recovery stay spent in Tunisia following the operation is very beneficial and enables most of our patients to resume their professional activities as soon as they return home.

Fees

The fees required for a frontal lift varies immensely depending on the patients, the condition of their skin, and their age, etc.

They usually turn arround 2400 Euros..
