The consultation

Pre-surgical consultation

The pre-surgical consultation is an interview during which a climate of trust and understanding will be established between the patient and the surgeon. It takes place in 2 phases:

Before your arrival in Tunisia:

Before your arrival for your plastic surgery in Tunisia, your surgeon will have already examined your files, your photos, and your medical history. You will have already received his/her diagnosis, been informed on the way the operation will be performed, the risks, and the surgical implications. Your pre-surgical check-up will have been made and considered by your anesthetist doctor, etc.

It is a very real “distance” consultation taking effect: these interviews of information sharing with your surgeon will allow you to ask him/her questions and will thus give you a clear idea about the operation itself as well as the consequences and the risks to be taken.

During these interviews, the surgeon will be listening to you paying attention to your requests and your real motivations. You will then express anything that causes some embarrassment, the recent or ancient feature of your problems, what you expect from such an operation, and the fears and apprehensions you have.

The surgeon analyzes with you the set objectives while bringing you the maximum amount of information and advice. All the medical and surgical antecedents or probable allergies will be equally evoked.

At the end of these interviews, the surgeon will decide or not for an indication of an operation.

Your surgeon will later explain to you precisely all the procedures: pre-surgical medical check-up, anesthesia mode, technical retention, performing the operation and its duration, hospitalization period, duration and nature of medication to be administered later. This will define the scars and what is likely to happen, states the post-surgical recommendations, the expected outcome, but also the inherent risks following each surgical act and regarding this operation in particular.

You and your surgeon will have exchanged many e-mails, have had conversations over the phone … a climate of mutual trust will have been in place, you are well prepared to undergo your operation knowing that you’ve been fully informed of the details.

Upon your arrival in Tunisia:

Upon arrival in Tunis, you will have thus received all information related to your operation and your stay; a trust relationship will then be set up between you and your surgeon.

The pre-surgical consultation is an important compulsory phase which will allow to set up a physical contact (up until now missing) between you and your surgeon. The consultation will usually take place in general the night before the operation, the day of your admission to the clinic.

The clinical examination will similarly allow to analyze and to confirm all the data regarding the degree of motivation, the stated reasons, to the anxiety, to age and to the state of the tissues (the state of the skin, its coloration, the presence or not of vergetures, varices, etc.). listening to a doctor must be at a maximum in order so that anything that can be understood will be perhaps badly formulated or unsaid.

A consultation with the anesthetist doctor is then mandatory for a further verification of your pre-surgical check-up, and to inform you about the security measures of anesthesia and confirm the pre-surgical check-up.
