Aims

This operation of cosmetic surgery in Tunisia aims at replacing the existing implants with new breast implants.

Before the operation

Your medical examinations

Between one week and a month prior to the operation, you must make an appointment with a medical test laboratory in order to go through a full pre-surgical check-up.

You should in no circumstances take a medication containing aspirin at least 10 days before the operation. You should also advise on any medication you may have taken. It is essential that you refrain from eating, drinking or smoking 8 hours before the operation.

Your luggage:

As far as your luggage is concerned, you must remember to bring clothing for the upper part with a buttoned covering at the front (you can easily roll that up more easily the first few days after the operation.) Do not hesitate to bring photos of breasts you like (cut out from magazines); this will allow the surgeons to have an idea about your expectations, and thus will help you to choose the type of breast implants that are best suited to your morphology and your wishes in terms of volume or shape.

Getting ready for the operation:

You will be taken to your clinic the night of the operation, the time to get settled in your room, to take a shower if needed and to meet with the medical team: your surgeon, the anesthetist doctor, and all the health care staff. The operation takes place the following morning. Very often, the night before the operation, the nurses will give you a kind of pre-medication in the form of a light tranquilizer to make sure that slightly anxious patients to face the operation with more fortitude.

Operation

The breasts implants may be inserted in three different ways: by the areola, by the breast line or by an incision in the armpit. Each location has its advantages and drawbacks.

• By the areola: this kind of incision is the most practiced. The incision is made by the areola and leaves a scar hardly visible. The importance of the incision is determined by the width of the areola. This technique is therefore more restrictive compared to the scope and magnitude of a breast implant. Important enlargements with a cohesive silicon breast gel implant are not in fact always possible in this way.
• By the breast line: The more important breast implants may be inserted via this technique. The scar is hardly visible since it is located in the fold underneath the breast.
• By an incision in the armpit: This is a technique which is practiced very rarely: a breast enlargement can be carried out by the armpit, but the breast implants tend to move upward. This scar is not found on the breast and does not draw any attention to it.

After the operation

On leaving the clinic you will systematically be given a prescription of a course of antibiotics and some pain killers. It is strictly recommended to refrain from carrying heavy loads or raising your arms in the air during the first 8 months. The day following the operation your bandage will be changed and you can then see the result.

Surgical after effects

The aftereffects are not so painful, slightly more painful if the breast implant is located behind the pectoral muscle. Weak pain killers will be enough to ease the pain during the first week. The stitches will be absorbed automatically. A bra must be worn day and night for a whole month following the ablation of the bandage. It must be noted that wearing a contention bra is not systematically prescribed by the surgeon.

One may lead a normal life except for any sports activity involving a movement at the pectoral muscle; such activities will be proscribed for 6 months.

Results

The result of this cosmetic surgery is correct as soon as the ablation of the bandage is carried out; it will improve to reach perfection and a natural state within 3 to 6 months.

Work interruption

There is no need for interrupting the work: the recovery stay spent in Tunisia following the operation is very beneficial and enables most of our patients to resume their professional activities as soon as they return home.
