Breast augmentation

For whom?

This plastic surgery operation is prescribed when the breast volume is considered insufficient by the patient.

Before the operation

Your medical examinations

Your medical examinations Between one week and a month prior to the operation, you must make an appointment with a medical test laboratory in order to go through a full pre-surgical check-up. The test results must be sent to us (by fax, or e-mail), so that they can be examined by our anesthesist doctor. Depending on your test results, other tests may be requested. If you do not have the possibility to have the tests before your departure, it is always possible to take them on the spot, one day before your operation. You must also know that if there is contra-indication, the anesthetist doctor will have the right to reschedule or cancel the operation. You should in no circumstances take a medication containing aspirin at least 10 days before the operation. You should also advise on any medication you may have taken. It is essential that you refrain from eating, drinking or smoking 8 hours before the operation.

Your luggage

As far as your luggage is concerned, you must remember to bring clothing for the upper part with a buttoned covering at the front (you can easily roll that up more easily the first few days after the operation. Do not hesitate to bring photos of the breasts that please you (cuttings from magazines). This will allow the surgeon to determine exactly what your expectations are, and thus he/she will help you to choose the kind of breast implant that suits your morphology best and your desire in terms of size and shape.

Getting ready for the operation

You will be taken to your clinic the night of the operation, the time to get settled in your room, to take a shower if needed and to meet with the medical team: your surgeon, the anesthetist doctor, and all the health care staff. The operation takes place the following morning. Very often, the night before the operation, the nurses will give you a kind of pre-medication in the form of a light tranquilizer to make sure that slightly anxious patients to face the operation with more fortitude. You will be given a hair wash the evening before the operation and a full removal of make-up the day of the operation.

Type of anesthesia

This is carried out under full anesthesia.

Duration of your hospital stay

3 nights.

Duration of total stay in Tunisia

6 nights/7 days.

Operation

Breast implants can be applied in three different ways: through the areola, through the breast fold or by an incision in the arm pit. Each location has its advantages and drawbacks.

Through the areola: this is the most practiced type of incision. The incision is carried out by the areola and leaves a scar that is hardly visible. The importance of the incision is determined by the width of the areola. This technique is therefore more restrictive compared to the scope of a breast implant. Significant augmentations by way of a cohesive silicone gel implant are not thus always possible in this way.

Through the fold of the breast more important breast implants may equally be applied following this technique. The scar is slightly visible since it is located in the fold below the breast.

By way of an incision in the armpit. This technique is practiced very rarely: breast enlargement can be carried out by the armpit, but the breast implants tend to move upward. This scar is not found on the breast and does not draw any particular attention to it. Our cosmetic surgeons will carefully provide you with advice and will help you to find the treatment that is commonly prescribed to achieve satisfactory results

Duration of the operation

The duration of this plastic surgery is of 2 hours.

After the operation

On leaving the clinic, a medical prescription will systematically put you on an antibiotic course together with the administration of pain killers. It is strictly prohibited to carry heavy items or to raise your arm in the air during the first 8 days. The day following the operation, the bandage will be removed and changed by a new one, and you can then see the results.

Surgical after effects

The after effects are not very painful, a little more painful if the breast implant is situated behind the pectoral muscle. Very weak pain killers will be enough to ease the pain during the first week. The threads will be desorbed by themselves. A bra must be put on day and night a month after the ablation of the bandage. You must note that the wearing of a contention bra is not systematically prescribed by the surgeon.

A normal life may be led except for playing sports involving the pectoral muscle. Engaging in such activity is to be proscribed for 6 weeks.

Results

The cosmetic result is correct as soon as the bandage is removed; but it will be perfected and natural within 3 to 6 months.

Work interruption

There is no need for interrupting the work: the recovery stay spent in Tunisia following the operation is very beneficial and enables most of our patients to resume their professional activities as soon as they return home.

Fees

The fees of a breast augmentation are 2200 euros.
