Breast augmentation
The breast augmentation consists in putting a mammary prosthesis behind the breast. It is destined to people having a flat or hardly marked chest, or estimating the volume of their breasts insufficient.
The used prostheses are round, full of silicone gel. They exist in a big variety of sizes, what returns them adaptable to all morphologies. They should not be changed that the tip of 15 - 20 years. The implants are placed backward of the mammary gland, under or on the pectoral muscle.
The incisions are perish - areola (on the periphery of the mammilla) or under mammary (in the furrow under the breast). There are not any other scars that those let by these incisions, they are minimal, hidden and nearly invisible.

The period of intervention is of 1 - 2 hours, under general anaesthesia. The hospitalization lasts one night. Post operative pains are minimum and endurable, a lot of patients don't practically suffer.
The most current complication following a mammary increase is the possible formation of a cockle : the cockle is a scar reaction around the implant, that risks obtaining a round and less flexible breast. The new generation of prostheses permitted to decrease the rate of cockles : this one is of 1/100.
The result is immediate, visible since the first month, but it is definitive at the end of 6 to 8 months.
The nursing is possible after one year, the palpation and the x-ray remain easy interpretation.
